Our Treatment Programs in Ventura
NPZ offers a comprehensive continuum of addiction treatment programs at our Ventura, California facility — from medically supervised detox through long-term aftercare.
Levels of Care at NPZ
Our treatment center provides four distinct levels of care, allowing patients to step up or step down as their recovery progresses.
Medical Detox Program
Medical detox at NPZ typically lasts 3-7 days, depending on the substance and individual factors. Our 24/7 on-site medical team monitors your progress continuously and adjusts treatment to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the withdrawal process at our Ventura facility.
Why Medical Supervision Matters
Withdrawal from substances like alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines can be dangerous — even life-threatening — without proper medical oversight. At NPZ, our board-certified physicians and registered nurses provide around-the-clock monitoring, medication-assisted treatment, and immediate intervention when needed.
Our Detox Process
Assessment
Comprehensive medical and psychological evaluation to determine detox protocol and identify any co-occurring conditions.
Stabilization
Medically managed withdrawal with FDA-approved medications to minimize discomfort, cravings, and health risks.
Transition to Treatment
Seamless transfer into residential or outpatient treatment once medically stable, with no gap in care.

Who Is Residential Treatment For?
Residential care is ideal for individuals who need a safe, substance-free environment away from daily triggers, those with severe or long-standing addictions, patients stepping down from detox, or anyone who has not responded to outpatient treatment in the past.

Outpatient Programs
NPZ's outpatient programs offer flexible addiction treatment for patients who need clinical support but also need to maintain work, school, or family responsibilities. Our Ventura-based outpatient services provide the same evidence-based therapies as our residential program in a less intensive format.
Levels of Outpatient Care
| Feature | PHP (Partial Hospitalization) | IOP (Intensive Outpatient) | Standard Outpatient |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hours/Week | 20-30 hours | 9-15 hours | 1-3 hours |
| Duration | 2-4 weeks | 8-12 weeks | Ongoing |
| Schedule | 5-6 days/week | 3-5 days/week | 1-2 days/week |
| Best For | Step-down from residential | Working professionals | Maintenance & relapse prevention |
| Includes | Individual + Group + Psychiatric | Group + Individual + Skills | Individual therapy + check-ins |
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
NPZ's PHP provides near-residential intensity while allowing patients to return home each evening. PHP runs 2-4 weeks with sessions 5-6 days per week at our Ventura facility. This level is ideal for patients stepping down from residential treatment or those who need more support than standard outpatient provides.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our IOP meets 3-5 days per week for 8-12 weeks, allowing patients to work or attend school while receiving structured addiction treatment. Sessions include group therapy, individual counseling, CBT/DBT skills training, and relapse prevention education at our center.
Step-Down Care
Many patients at NPZ progress through multiple levels of care. A typical pathway might include medical detox (3-7 days), followed by residential treatment (30-90 days), then PHP (2-4 weeks), then IOP (8-12 weeks), and finally standard outpatient combined with our alumni program. This gradual step-down approach ensures sustained recovery support at every stage.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Dual diagnosis — also known as co-occurring disorders — means having both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition at the same time. At NPZ in Ventura, our clinical team treats both issues simultaneously because addressing one without the other significantly increases the risk of relapse.
Why Integrated Treatment Matters
Research consistently shows that treating addiction and mental health conditions in isolation leads to poorer outcomes. NPZ's integrated dual diagnosis approach means your psychiatrist, therapist, and medical team work collaboratively to address the complex interplay between your mental health and substance use.
Mental Health Conditions We Treat
Our Integrated Approach
Psychiatric Evaluation
Thorough assessment by our on-site psychiatrist to diagnose co-occurring conditions and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
Medication Management
Ongoing psychiatric medication oversight to address depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other conditions alongside addiction treatment.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Specialized therapeutic approaches that address underlying trauma — a common driver of both substance use and mental health conditions.
Integrated Treatment Plan
A unified care plan where your entire clinical team coordinates to treat both diagnoses simultaneously at our Ventura facility.
